Four Things You’ll Love About Skydiving

Saturday, February 11, 2017

We don’t have to sell you on skydiving. You already know how fantastic it is. You’ve seen the videos; you’ve heard your friends talk in bubbly high octaves about their experiences.

But y’know what? It gives us such joy to sing the praises of our beloved sport, we’re just gonna step up to the mic and spit it again.

Skydive Tecumseh is, by any measure, an incredible jumping community. We’ve got a proud history of creating new jumpers–and of breathing life into the sport–and it’s easy to see why! There are four things you’re going to fall head over heels for on your skydive, and we’re certain we’re the dropzone that does ‘em best.

1. The Plane RideAirplane full of excited skydivers

Our plane is our pride and joy–and for good reason! She’s a Super King Air, which means she’s, well, super. She’s super-comfortable, super-fast, super-sleek and generally super-super. Skydiving aircraft matter for a number of reasons–from the altitude they can achieve (which directly translates into the amount of time you can spend in freefall) to the comfort of the ride to the amount of time you’ll spend waiting to jump. The super King Air is a home run in every category.

2. The Jump

There is nothing so empowering as a skydive. Freaked out tandem skydiving studentFrom the moment your toes are lined up to the edge of that door to the moment they touch back down on the ground, you’ll be filled to bursting with a sense of giddy possibility you’ve never felt before. The feeling has the power to extend long past the jump itself, too–so the same sense of boundlessness and personal power that you feel in the sky can stay with you in your work life, in your family interactions, at school and in everything else you do. It’s really magical stuff, and it really has to be felt to be believed.

3. The Canopy Ride

The view from altitude at Skydive Tecumseh is second-to-none in this region. Happy looking tandem skydiving student during parachute rideWe’ve done this ride to altitude countless times, and we’re still caught off guard by it, sometimes. We’re surrounded by the Irish Hills Lakes, and we’ve got 100 acres all to ourselves out here. The “hundred-acre-wood” thing does not escape us; our Skydive Tecumseh home really does feel like a wonderland. You’ll see when you’re checking it out under canopy–it’s spectacular. Truly marvelous.

4. The Community

We’re proud to say that our tandem professionals are the best in the business. Really, they are. We have a five-decades-long-and-counting tradition to uphold, and every last one of our people takes immense pride in doing just that. Skydive Tecumseh has been taking people up for their first taste of the sky since 1963 (!!), and a surprisingly large number of our first-time tandem skydivers become part of our extended “skyfamily.” People that we’ve taken up for a tandem come back to us to earn their solo skydiving licenses and advancing their skydiving skills as sport jumpers.

We want to welcome you into the awesome jumping community we’ve built at Skydive Tecumseh. There’s a reason we’ve have fought so hard to preserve the legacy of our beautiful little skydiving club–and that reason is you. We want you to have the best possible experience, and we want to keep jumping with you for years to come!
