Chasing a Different Dream

Ryan “Shaggio” Levesque didn’t set out to become a skydiver. After graduating from the University of Southern Maine, he built a successful career in management and helped lead several businesses. Like many people, he spent years chasing the traditional definition of success: bigger responsibilities, bigger paychecks, and the next professional milestone.

But something was missing.

At 28 years old, one of his employees convinced him to make his first skydive. What started as a single jump quickly became a passion that changed the course of his life. Skydiving introduced him to a community unlike anything he had experienced before. He found people who valued experiences over possessions, friendships over status, and fulfillment over appearances. The more time he spent in the sport, the more he realized the life he truly wanted looked very different from the one he had been pursuing. A few years later, he sold his home in upstate New York and moved south to pursue skydiving year-round.

Building a Life in Skydiving

That journey led him to Skydive Carolina, where he immersed himself in the sport as a fun jumper before eventually becoming a videographer and later returning to a management role. Combining his business experience with his passion for skydiving, Shaggio helped lead operations at one of the busiest drop zones in the country while continuing to live the lifestyle he had fallen in love with. More importantly, he learned that success isn’t one-size-fits-all. For some people, success means climbing the corporate ladder. For others, it means building a life centered around passion, purpose, and community.

Finding a Home at Skydive Tecumseh

As he continued his career in skydiving, Shaggio kept hearing positive things about Skydive Tecumseh and the community that surrounded it. He was also familiar with the work Franz Gerschwiler had done to transform the operation, relocating the drop zone to Napoleon, Michigan, and building a modern facility designed for the future. Wanting to see it for himself, Shaggio traveled to Michigan to evaluate the operation before making a major life change. What he found exceeded expectations. The facilities were impressive, the operation was professional, and the community immediately felt like home. In 2020, he accepted the role of General Manager and relocated to Michigan, working alongside Franz Gerschwiler to continue growing the business while learning from a mentor he deeply respected.

When the opportunity arose to purchase Skydive Tecumseh in 2026, it felt like a natural next step.

“Franz built something special here,” says Shaggio. “My goal is to honor that foundation while continuing to invest in the future.”

More Than Skydiving

For Shaggio, Skydive Tecumseh has always been about much more than jumping out of airplanes.

“The biggest thing skydiving gave me wasn’t adrenaline. It was perspective.”

Today, his vision is simple: protect and strengthen the culture that has made Skydive Tecumseh special for generations. He believes some of life’s greatest rewards come from pursuing experiences, building meaningful relationships, and having the courage to follow your own path rather than the one others expect you to take. Not everyone who visits Skydive Tecumseh will become a skydiver. But he hopes everyone leaves with a greater appreciation for what is possible when you challenge yourself and chase the life you truly want.
