IAD - Instructor Assisted Deployment

So you want to do it alone!  For first time jumpers that would like to fly their own canopy, we suggest an IAD skydive!  You'll be equiped with your own parachute and prepared with a full days training!

On the day of your jump, you will board the aircraft with your IAD instructor and fly to 3,500 feet above the ground where you'll climb out, take poised stance, and release!

Your instructor will manually deploy your pilot chute beginning the deployment sequence for your main canopy!  From there you'll take the wheel (the toggles actually!) and steer yourself into our wide open student landing area!

Not only does an IAD jump allow you to fly your own canopy on your very first skydive, but it's also the first step in our IAD Training Progression!

When you're ready to jump, just give us a call at 1-800-SKYDIVE or 517-423-7720 !

IAD is the descendent of the original Static Line Training method. The basic concept is the same, but has now been updated to improve safety. Rather than have a static line attaching you to the airplane, an Instructor will hold the pilot chute of a standard sports parachute rig and manually deploy your canopy as you exit the aircraft.

Following your first five skydives, you will do your first "clear and pull" where you will deploy your own canopy immediately after your exit. The next series of jumps will have you gradually increase your freefall time before deployment. After 25 jumps you will be able to test and receive your "A" License.

Skydive Tecumseh is also one of the only drop zones in the area that offers IAD training.
